PPF coverage areas explained (bonnet, bumper, guards)

PPF is applied one panel at a time, which means coverage is a menu, not a fixed product. You choose which panels get film, and the price scales with area and complexity. Understanding the standard packages, and which panels actually take damage on Adelaide roads, is how you avoid both under-protecting and overspending.

The leading-edge kit (the budget entry)

The smallest package covers the front bumper and the leading edge of the bonnet, plus often the mirror backs. This is the original clear bra concept. It leaves the rest of the bonnet and the guards exposed, so it is a budget-first choice, not full coverage.

Full-front (the most popular package)

Adding these to a full-front kit is the smartest-value coverage for anyone who regularly drives the Hills, the freeway or gravel:

• Rocker panels and lower doors, which get sandblasted from below.
• A-pillars and the roof leading edge, which catch gravel thrown over the bonnet.
• Door edges and handle cups, where fingernails and rings scratch daily.

Full body (total coverage)

Full body wraps every painted panel, front to back. It is the right call for high-value cars, long-term keepers and track cars, and it starts from $4,500 for a small car. For a typical daily driver it protects many panels that never see a stone, so it is usually more coverage than the driving justifies.

The cheap, high-value extras worth adding

A few small pieces of film punch well above their cost because they cover spots that scratch constantly:

• Door handle cups, where fingernails and rings leave permanent swirls.
• Door edges, which chip against poles, kerbs and neighbouring cars.
• The boot loading lip, which scuffs from bags and shopping.
• The rear bumper top, scratched by loading and unloading over it.
